AAA says that there will not be as many people traveling on the road over the holiday weekend even though gas prices are down about 10 cents per gallon over last year. In 2006, about 29 million people traveled by automobile over Labor Day and this year about 28.9 million will according to a AAA survey. One big difference is this year not as many people made travel plans whereas last year, people found themselves canceling reservations due to high gas prices. Whatever your travel plans may be for the holiday weekend, we at Michelle & Associates, Inc. wish you a happy and safe holiday. The full article can be found on CNN’s website.

Starting today, August 28th, the City of Raleigh has put into effect Stage 1 water restrictions. What does this mean for Raleigh, North Carolina residents? A big change in the way you care for your lawn and outdoor plants!
Why were these changes made? The North Carolina Drought Advisory Council provided information to the City of Raleigh that influenced the decision to move forward with the stricter water conservation methods. The National Weather Service and the North Carolina Climatology Office also contributed by providing long term forecasts that suggest the current drought conditions will continue through fall and early winter.

Where should you spend money when it comes to remodeling real estate in Raleigh, NC?
Kitchen Update: This is one of your best options. Typically the return on a kitchen remodel is greater than any other project. Consider changing your electric range to a gas range for even more appeal to buyers.
Bathroom Update: This is also another great remodeling project. Changing tub/shower combinations to showers is a very popular option in Raleigh, NC.
Master Bedroom: If you have room to expand turn a bedroom into a master suite. Add a larger closet and bathroom. If you are able to, a fireplace is always a nice addition.
