Raleigh is a fast growing city that needs new schools, roads, and other improvements. The question is, how do we get the money to do that? The Raleigh City Council is recommending that impact fees double. Currently builders pay a flat $1200 impact fee when they build new construction. The City Council would like to turn that into two $1200 installments. If the idea passes, the new impact fees could potentially be in place by July 2008. The fees will fluctuate based on the size of the home. The larger the home the higher the fee. For more information you can visit this WRAL article. Sometimes home buyers view a price reduction on a listing as a negative. This is not always a bad thing! Especially in today’s market, it can be difficult to price a home correctly at first. Sometimes a home needs a few weeks or a month on the market with feedback for the sellers and/or agent to realize its price needs to be reduced. Also, homes can be overpriced when they are first put on the market and the seller’s expectations are a little too high. There are perfectly good homes out there that have had to reduce their price. So don’t rule out a home just because the price has been reduced. Maybe the sellers really need to move and they will take a little less for their home if you can move in soon!
