Fixing to Sell Your Home?
January 19th, 2009
Are you fixing to sell your home? Well, it’s not about you. You live in your house one way. When you sell, it shows another way. You have to depersonalize and declutter your home. A prospective Buyer is not interested in your family pictures, books, mementos of your travel, etc. The less you have in your home, the better. I recommend to Sellers go ahead and start packing the items you’re not using.
Paint is money in your pocket. A fresh coat of paint makes a house more inviting to a Buyer. If the carpet needs cleaning, go ahead and clean. If it’s beyond cleaning, replace the carpet. Make sure the front door and front yard make good impression. Paint the front door and install new hardware. Freshen up your landscaping and put out some plants with color. You only get one chance to make a first impression. Consider buying new appliances. You get back the money dollar for dollar on the appliances. If your light fixtures are dated, replace or paint them a metallic metal. Please, clean your house and get rid of any odors. If a propsective Buyer opens the front door and there are smells, chances are they won’t walk in. Remember, when selling your home, it’s not about you, it’s about the propsective Buyer.
